This poem is an English translation selected from the fourth section, "Post Station" (驿站), of the Chinese poetry journal "Workers' Poetry Selection" (《打工诗选刊》).
Chongqing Sketch
The camera flash rouses dreams from sleep,
wind sweeps past high-rises, laundry on balconies
sliding from one end to another.
When sunlight emerges,
pedestrians hurry across Qiansimen,
below Dongshuimen an old man sits fishing forever.
Guanyinqiao meets Nanping,
Jiulongpo encounters Shapingba—
as clouds and rivers flow through this city,
its day of being alive begins.

闪光灯把人从梦中叫醒
风吹过高楼，阳台的衣物
从这头滑到那头
太阳出现的时候
千丝门上的行人匆匆
东水门下久坐钓鱼翁
观音桥遇上南坪
九龙坡遇见沙坪坝
城市行云流水时
这座城就开始了活着的一天
