Post Station

This poem is an English translation selected from the fourth section, "Post Station" (驿站), of the Chinese poetry journal "Workers' Poetry Selection" (《打工诗选刊》).

The Screw

It sheds every trait of discomfort,
dons a silver suit,
no longer oxidizing memories.

It glories:
in growing precision,
outlasting other screws.

It clamps fast in its threaded groove,
never letting duty
spill beyond its spiral.

It is a screw,
now piously gazing upward
at the cross engraved by machinery.

它舍弃一切不适的个性

镀上银色西装

不再氧化出记忆

它荣耀：

在日益精密中

淘汰掉其他的螺钉

它死死占住一个孔槽

从不让责任

超过螺纹之外

它是一枚螺钉

此时，正虔诚地望着头顶上

机器刻下的十字
