Poetry Garden

This poem is an English translation selected from the third section, "Poetry Garden" (诗苑), of the Chinese poetry journal Workers' Poetry Selection (《打工诗选刊》).

Tonight, I Pass Through Delinga

Tonight, the train races on, the night air cold —
Delingha has turned chilly.
Seeking “Hai Zi’s elder sister,”
I touch the heart of Delingha.

This desolate city,
the vast, barren Gobi —
already swept fierce through my soul.
Borrowing a distant arc of chilly moonlight,
I hear Hai Zi calling out for his sister:
“Elder sister, tonight I care not for all of humanity,
I only want you.”

Ye Bing: Member of the Chinese Poetry Association, executive editor of the Hong Kong poetry publication Olive Leaf, and early member of the Migrant Worker Poetry Society, where she served as head of the promotion team. 《今夜，我穿过德令哈》

今夜，火车奔驰，夜色寒凉

德令哈的天冷了

寻着“海子的姐姐”

我触摸着德令哈的心脏

这座荒凉的城

茫茫的戈壁

已从我心中肆虐飞过

遥借一弯清冷的月色

我听见了海子在喊姐姐

“姐姐，今夜我不关心人类，

只想姐姐”
