Post Station
This poem is an English translation selected from the fourth section, "Post Station" (驿站), of the Chinese poetry journal "Workers' Poetry Selection" (《打工诗选刊》).

Nostalgia Over the Fields
On the fields, the rice stalks glow like gold,
Swaying softly as the breeze blows by.
When I was young, I often wandered here,
Laughing and playing with friends under the sky.
The fields stretched wide, so boundless and free,
The rice grains hung full, a sight to hold.
It was here I came to understand
What homesickness means, what makes a homeland.
Now I’ve left those fields far behind,
And come to a city, unknown and new.
But every time I see golden rice,
My heart returns to what I once knew.
I remember the fields, wide and serene,
And the golden rice under the sun’s warm light.
I remember the dreams I dreamed back then,
And that sweet, lingering sense of nostalgia’s might.
Fields, rice, and longing deep—
They are the eternal verses in my soul.
No matter where my path may lead,
In me, their presence will stay whole.
