The Square
This poem is an English translation selected from the second section, "The Square" (广场), of the Chinese poetry journal Workers' Poetry Selection (《打工诗选刊》).

I Heard the Moon Breathing from the Bridge
I have been in your world,
and there I heard you breathe—
your breath carrying an enchanting fragrance,
rippling with an intoxicating tranquility.
Lovely stars blink their mischievous eyes,
communing with the beautiful night.
I stood on the bridge and heard the moon breathing,
while the wind’s tenderness overwhelmed your beauty.
That pure jade veil intoxicates the starry river, the palace above,
your breath like exquisite music,
gently leaping through the romantic cosmos,
quietly soaring in the deepening night,
softly claiming its place in my world.
