Several Times I Passed the Jialing River, Observing the Calm of Its Flow

Several times I passed the Jialing River,
leaning against the train window,
chin resting in my palm,
pondering the calm of its flow.
My heart felt like that river.
Compared to the grand eastward rush of great rivers,
I pay more attention to things in gradual retreat—
like my unemployed self,
like the countryside,
resembling stones left behind
along the riverbank,
howling in the wind,
turning into clusters of reeds.
About the Poet: Wu Haiming, pen names Yuefu and Baoyi, born in the 2000s, is a native of Peng'an, Sichuan. Currently working as a factory worker, he writes poetry—whether modern or classical—inspired by scenes and fleeting emotions.
《嘉陵江，几次经过你流淌时的平缓》

嘉陵江，几次经过
我倚靠在火车车窗
的位置，单手托腮
凝思流淌时的平缓
我的心情，如同江流
比起大江东去
我更关注节节败退的事物
比如失业的我
比如乡村
像一颗颗遗落江岸的
石头，在风的呼啸中
成为了一丛丛芦苇
